SPOTLIGHT SESSION WEBINAR: COVID-19 IMPACT ON GROUP LIFE ASSURANCE

A little more than a year ago we were hearing rumblings of a virus spreading in Wuhan, a large city in China. The Chinese government locked down Wuhan, but the virus spread to Northern Italy and soon thereafter, we had our first cases in South Africa – then suddenly, we also had to adapt to a whole new way of living and working.

Towards the latter half of 2020, many of us had learnt of somebody we know or loved ones who had lost their battle against the virus. Retirement funds and the associated employee benefits, such as group life- and disability assurance are designed to assist dependants and families in times like this.

In this session, we explored how group life assurers have coped in the past year, whether we have to adapt to benefit changes in future and if the cost of these benefits will change over time.
